  • How to make your phone’s battery last longer ?

Is your mobile phone slowing down?

As with every electronic gadget, your mobile phone too will show some signs of performance deterioration with the passage of time. It is a different matter if you are one of those who keep changing the smart phone every 6 months to a year. Then you may not experience any slowing down of performance and you are entitled to thinking your device is among the best in the market.

But once you have been using a smart phone for more than 6-8months, you will notice some slowing down of performance and that is inevitable. It is applicable to both Android and iOS devices. However, the good news is that the causes have been identified and it is possible to address them to get your smart phone to function like it did when you bought it.

    1. a) If you have a device with an OS that is no longer in vogue and newer OS versions have been launched, you cannot do much to speed up performance. That means you may not be able to run certain applications, games on your existing device since the OS does not support them. The computing power of your device is unable to match up to the demands of these apps, games and you then have no choice but to upgrade the OS to the extent possible only and will have to make do with whatever improvement it brings along. It is therefore necessary to be aware of the limitations of your device and not have expectations based out of comparison with the latest device in town.
    2. b) Be mindful of apps that guzzle up memory space and bring down performance of your phone without doing anything spectacular themselves. Even light weight apps can prove to be a drag on your device. Do not be indiscriminate in downloading apps. You may also have to review the existence of certain apps that have outlived their utility and purge them.
    3. c) Do not use up more than 75% of your device storage capacity. This will leave sufficient space for NAND memory which is nothing but flash memory and is necessary for smooth functioning of your device.
    4. d) Be aware of the space occupied by photos, audio and video files. Deleting those on time after a backup is taken is vital for effective functioning of your device as it will free up memory space.
    5. e) Clear cached space regularly as well. Do this as many of the apps will have cached memory built up over time that will slow down the device performance.
    6. f) Check out the SD card. A messy SD card can impact device performance. Fortunately, you can fix it by taking a backup of the card, reformatting it and placing it back. You need a computer to do this though to be sure you are backing up the SD card contents fully enough.

Finally if all of the above do not help, you may have to do a factory reset of your device.
